Clinical Pilates
Clinical Pilates is a modified form of Traditional Pilates – an exercise system initially designed by Joseph Pilates, which was developed to help with the rehabilitation and prevention of muscular injuries. One of the major focuses of this type of therapy is the development of strength in the core muscles – the deep abdominal, pelvic floor and hip musculature, and the upper and middle back muscles.
Clinical Pilates is suitable for people who have musculoskeletal pain or injury. It is particularly useful if the symptoms are recurrent or chronic. Pilates can help pain in the back, pelvis and hip, shoulder and neck. It is considered to be safe for all ages if taught by suitably trained instructors and can be appropriate for a number of musculoskeletal conditions.
Bayside Osteopathic Clinic utilise apparatus such as Mat, Reformer, Trapeze and other small apparatus in your program.
Our practitioners have been using this form of exercise rehabilitation increasingly as they see the benefits in patients, helping them to control and manage their conditions. They have undergone training with DMA, Tensegrity, and others that are all accredited Pilates facilitys.
Clinical Pilates is offered as one on one consultations or in small group classes.
The classes at Bayside Osteopathic clinic are structured in a way that each participant receives not only a specific programme designed for them and their injury, but also ongoing assistance in performing the programme correctly. An initial assessment is required prior to commencing these classes. Please feel free to discuss this further with our receptionist.
