Do you sometimes wake up feeling like you’ve slept like this?!
On top of musculoskeletal aches and pains, a poor nights sleep can have a greater impact on day to day function such as mental health and well being. Some tips to help you get a good nights sleep include:
• Have a bedtime routine- that is go to bed, lights out, screens off, and wake up at the same time each day.
• Bed is for sleep – avoid watching tv, using screens or working from your bed. On top of the postural issues you need to associate bed with sleep only.
• Stay active – keeping active and having a regular exercise schedule has been shown to help with sleep.
• Avoid or limit stimulants such as caffeine, tobacco and alcohol which can stop you getting to sleep or cause a restless nights sleep.
• Make sure your bedroom is comfortable, that is a nice dark space and not too warm. Being too hot can lead to a restless nights sleep.
